Come unto Christ

We are brothers striving to follow Jesus Christ: learning His doctrine, serving one another, and building our lives on the rock of our Redeemer.

“…remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation…” Helaman 5:12

Just minister, as the Savior did.

That’s the whole idea behind our quorum and this website. The Church’s General Handbook teaches that “ministering means serving others as the Savior did” and that “He loved, taught, prayed for, comforted, and blessed those around Him.”

Quoted from General Handbook, chapter 21.

Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Matthew 20:28

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

John 13:34

Why our quorum gathers

Everything we do as a quorum points to Jesus Christ. The Church’s General Handbook teaches that members of the elders quorum “serve others, fulfill priesthood duties, build unity, and learn and live doctrine.” In the Ivins 3rd Ward, that looks like:

  • Learning of Christ together each Sunday from the words of living prophets.
  • Ministering to every individual and family, as the Savior would.
  • Serving our neighbors in Ivins, Kayenta, and across Washington County.
  • Strengthening families and preparing to make and keep temple covenants.
  • Welcoming everyone, including new move-ins, prospective elders, young men turning 18, and friends of other faiths.

Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you…

Moroni 10:32

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:28
Our witness

We talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ

We testify that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of the world. Through His Atonement, each of us can be forgiven, healed, and strengthened. We are grateful for Him above all, and we invite every brother to build his life, his family, and his service on Him.

[Optional: a 2–4 sentence welcome and personal testimony from the elders quorum president]

And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.

Gratitude

“Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.”

2 Corinthians 9:15

The Lord has said, “Thou shalt thank the Lord thy God in all things” (Doctrine and Covenants 59:7). What are you grateful for this week?
